Silky smooth hair like in shampoo adverts, is the dream of many women, isn’t it? Those models spend hours in beauty salons. In our daily life, we don’t have time to go to salons every week.  Is it possible to achieve silky smooth hair at home? Yes! But it requires a lot of work and a good hair care routine.

In this article, Utiee shares a few secrets on how you can have silky smooth hair without spending hundreds of dollars on beauty salons. Keep reading!

First of all, you need sulfates and paraben-free hair care products. These ingredients make hair drier and could lead to breakage. Look for silicones in composition instead. They smooth the cuticle well and do not allow moisture to evaporate too quickly. Silicones work great in combination with natural oils. You need to know how to use hair care correctly, otherwise even the most expensive treatment will be useless.

Step One: Wash your hair properly

If you are used to shampooing every day – STOP! This leads to dehydration of hair along the entire length. To minimize the negative impact of washing, you should follow these simple rules:

  • comb your hair thoroughly before showering;
  • to keep hair ends moisturized, apply shampoo only on the roots;
  • don’t wash hair in hot water;
  • first, wring out the water from hair and only then dry it with a towel;
  • reduce shampooing to 2-3 times a week.

A good shampoo for those who would like to achieve silky smooth hair at home would be Kevin.Murphy Smooth.Again.Wash. Its formula contains keratin protein molecules that smooth and restores damaged hair areas. Its formula is enriched with different natural oils. They make hair soft and smooth, restoring the hydro-lipid balance.

Actually the whole Smooth.Again range is good for creating silky smooth hair at home. For better results use Smooth.Again.Wash together with Smooth.Again.Rinse.

Step two: hair protection after washing

While shampooing we wash off all the protective layers from our hair. If after washing we don’t use any additional products and just dry our hair with a hair dryer, it opens keratin scales in hair structure. As a result, your hair will have a sloppy and unhealthy look.

Our first advice is to include hair masks in your hair care routine. Their composition is very concentrated, and they work with deeper layers of hair. Masks should be used no more than once or twice a week.

If your hair is already damaged, try out the mask from Kerastase Densité line with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and a complex of glycopeptides. This mask softens hair, providing shine and elasticity.

For bleached hair, it is important to create a protective barrier that will prevent the color from fading and keep the hair healthy. The best mask for bleached hair is Olaplex No. 8 Moisture Mask. Its formula contains one active ingredient bis-aminopropyl glycol dimaleate that rebuilds disulfide bonds in hair structure and restores elasticity.

Thick and dry hair requires double nutriment. Kerastase Magistral mask effectively penetrates damaged hair structure, eliminating dryness and filling the hair with needed nutriment.

Step three: leave-in treatment

Working in combination with all other products, leave-in treatment consolidates the result and gives hair a truly well-groomed look. If you want to have silky smooth hair, don't neglect using leave-in products.

Our top product is Olaplex No. 9. It is designed to protect hair from pollution for 48 hours. Antioxidant-rich, silicone-free serum improves manageability, smoothest and protects all hair types for immediate results. It also contains moisturizing ingredients such as sodium hyaluronate and panthenol commonly used in skin care products.
