Olaplex Myths - Few Things You Need To Know
Olaplex is a well-known hair care brand. It is famous for its patented formula based on the Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate molecule. It works to find damaged disulfide bonds in hair structure and restore them. It makes Olaplex so special. This treatment does not hide the damage but repairs it.
On the Internet, you can find a lot of different opinions about Olaplex. At Utiee - beauty store we choose very carefully the brands we collaborate with. So we did research about Olaplex and tested its action.
Let’s take a look at a few Olaplex myths that we often hear and figure out what is true and what is not.
1. Using Olaplex all the time is can overload the hair
There are a lot of different Olaplex products and all of them are made to work in combinations, they complement each other. You can not overuse Olaplex by using some or even all of its products. I use Olaplex 3 once a week or every other week. You can use this treatment as often as you want unless you see the result. We highly recommend avoiding washing your hair every day as this strips the essential oils, and we are not speaking here about Olaplex. It is just a general hair care rule. It is better to wash the hair every 2-3 days but you don’t need to use Olaplex treatments every time that you wash it. But that will not damage your hair if you do so.
2. Olaplex causes allergies
There are no ingredients in Olaplex composition which could cause allergies. Olaplex has been proud to be non-toxic, cruelty-free, and free of all beauty industry toxins. It is free of many common allergens such as soy, nuts, and gluten. There are some Olaplex products that are not recommended for use on the scalp. If you have sensitive head skin it could cause irritation. But if you apply Olaplex products carefully, how it is recommended on the bottle, avoiding scalp, you should not have any allergic reactions.
3. Olaplex does work
It is not true! Olaplex does work. Of course, for example, if you use Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector in the shower like an ordinary conditioner it would not have the same action. You should apply Olaplex products how it is recommended on the bottle. The longer you keep it on your hair the better the result. If your hair is completely healthy you will not notice a big difference by using Olaplex. As you already know its purpose is to repair broken bonds in hair structure.
4. Olaplex contains toxic ingredients
This is another big lie about Olaplex. It is non-toxic and free of Sulfates (SLS & SLES), Parabens, Phthalates, Phosphates, along with other toxins. Olaplex is a part of Sephora’s clean initiative, bearing a CLEAN at Sephora seal. The seal designates brands that formulate without sulfates (SLS and SLES), parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, triclosan, and triclocarban. It means that all Olaplex products are clean and safe for use.
